Elections and Voter Registration

Regular City Elections

The City of laurel holds an election every two years on the first Tuesday in November of the odd year. The Mayor serves a four-year term and the City Council serves a two-year term. The next General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2027 and will be for the Mayor and all five (5) City Council seats. 

Voting in City Elections

Every person registered with the Prince George's County Board of Election Supervisors and is a resident of the City of Laurel is eligible to vote in all City elections.

Voter Registration

You can register to vote at the State Board of Elections or the Prince George's County Board of Elections.

Vote by Mail Ballot

You can vote by mail. Contact the Board of Election Supervisors to request an application for an Vote by Mail ballot or call the Clerk to the Board of Elections.

Early Voting

Early voting is typically held just before election day.  Specific dates, locations and times will be posted in the summer of 2027.
