Homebuyer Assistance Program

The City of Laurel Homebuyers Assistance Program is designed to help individuals and families achieve homeownership.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • First-Time Homebuyers or individuals who have not purchased a home within the past five (5) years.
  • The home must be the primary residence and cannot be used as an investment property.
  • Applicants must provide proof of not having purchased a home in the last five years (e.g., W-2 form, tax return, or other acceptable documentation).

Program Process & Benefit:

  • The Economic and Community Development Department will determine program eligibility.
  • Once qualified, and after closing on your home and providing the final settlement documents, you will receive a $5,000 assistance payment.

Program Funding:

  • For Fiscal Year 2026, the City allocated $50,000 from the General Budget for this program.
  • This funding will support 10 eligible homeowners, each receiving $5,000 after closing.

Application Instructions

  • Please read all eligibility requirements thoroughly before beginning your application.
  • The application may not be updated after submission. Please make sure your application is correct and complete before submitting.
  • Only one application submission per applicant will be considered.
  • Submission of an incomplete and/or inaccurate application may disqualify an applicant from being awarded funding. Please check your application for completeness and accuracy before submitting.
  • Applications must be submitted through the online application portal.

Application Deadlines

This program is currently accepting applications and will be open until allocated funds are fully distributed. 

Applications will only be accepted electronically through the online application portal. One application per applicant will be accepted.
